Celebrity spotting

Yesterday I made my first celebrity spotting here in Florida.
HULK HOGAN
How about that... Saw him at PJ's Autoworld. A place that sells old cool cars. And Hulk was doing some shopping when we were there. Cool!

Self defense

I have registered for a course in women’s self-defense, specialized for Florida, and I had my first class this weekend. It was hard, but oh so good. The guy I had to defend myself against was really strong. And he had a scary look; he stared and stared at me, made me all nervous and scared. But I managed to do what my teacher taught me. I held him down, without problems.

This was just one of the things that we (Pontus, JJ and me) did at our trip to Key West. It started on Thursday, going down to Miami, where we spent the first night. Then on Friday morning we continued our trip down to the Keys.
Wow, it was just so beautiful. Like coming to an island in the Bahamas. :) We did some serious partying, went to see Hemingway’s house spent some time on the beach.

Yosemite

We have now spent 5 wonderful days at the Yosemite National Park. Living in Curry Village, in something that is a mix between a tent and a cottage, called a tent cabin.

We had been told that there could
come down bears into the camp.
So we were not allowed to have any food or anything else that smelled in our house, like toiletteries. So we got something called a bear safe. One night we heard something... At least two people running past our house. One of them yelling: "Bear!!!" and the other one "Get away!!" So I guess bears do come down to the camp.

When we arrived on Thursday night, it snowed and was incredible cold. We slept with clothes and hats on in sleeping bags. Brr. Luckily the weather got better and better so the two last nights we didn't even need the sleeping bags.

Friday was a rainy day, so that day was spent to more or less drive around in the park and get information about what was to do.
Saturday turned out to be a much better day with sun and warmth. Pontus took a course in climbing and I went tracking up to something called Mirror Lakes. Don't get fooled by the name...they are letting the lake dry out to become a meadow. So no mirror and not much of a lake.

Sunday was the big day. We had decided to go up to Yosemite Falls Point, 6936 ft, which would be about 2114 m above the water. This means a lot of work, and high up. It took us about 3,5 hours to get up to the Point. Even though it was hard work it was worth it when we came up and saw the marvellous view. So beautiful that there are not words to describe it. It took us about 2,5 hour to get down again.


Monday was a hard day for our bodies, a lot of ache from Sunday. But we didn't give up. We decided to go horse back riding. But before that we went to look at one of the most famous mountains to climb at, El Capitan. Beautiful, but in my eyes impossible to climb. :) So I found something lese to climb, a tree. After that we went to the stables and mounted our mules. I got a beautiful one named Felix. We were out for about 2 hours, which really felt in out bottoms. :)


Then it was Thuesday, and time to go home. But before leaving we
decided to go up to Vernon Falls, which was a truely beautiful waterfall.
In all it was a great vacation! We have enjoyed every minute of it!

New necklace

Vamos a Miami

This weekend was spent in Miami, more correctly at South Beach, Alexander Resort.
It could not have been a better weekend.

We went there Friday and met up with some relatives to Pontus. Friday night we had a great dinner at the hotells restaurant and then we went out get a feeling of the Miami nights. Went to Lincoln Mall and ended up at the same bar where me and Pontus was last summer. Had just a great evening.

Saturday was spent on the beach and by the pool. Playing with the kids and just enjoying life. And then in the evening, after a great dinner, me and Pontus went out to just walk aroung alitle. But we got a long way, and ended up at a bar at an hotel at Collins/19th. Hotel Townhouse, at their Rooftoop Lounge. It was a great patio on the roof where you were sitting on sofas that were like waterbeds. So everyone was more or less lying down having drinks, and looking at the stars. It was just magnificent!!

Sunday was also spent at the beach and by the pool playing and reading. Then, unfortunately, it was time for us to leave this paradise and go back home.

Long time...

Dear friends!
I know that it has been a long time, sorry. But here is a little update.

We have had my sister and her boyfriend her visiting us. It was great! We managed to do alot of things. One of the best things was the visit to Busch Gardens and Universal Studios. The feeling of beeing a kid again. :)I have also been home in Stockhom for ten days. It was great getting to meet all my friends and get an update on the party life of Stockholm.
On Friday we will go to Miami to meet up with relatives to my boyfriend. That will be great. You will find an update here next week.

Chicago

The morning after we got home from New York, we got on another plane, this time to Chicago. A city where I studied 10 years ago, and have not visited since. Which made this trip a bit speciall for me. I got to show Pontus MY Chicago.
Pontus worked the first two days, so I had some time on my own, just walking around in the city. But the weather was horrible. Windy as always, and then the cold and the snow. And since I live in Florida now, where we don't have neither snow nor realy cold weather, it was kind of a shock for my body. But at the same time I was so happy beeing there...
I went to Water Tower Place, went in at Ghirardelli's. Went past Cheescaka Factory, which was something amazing when I studied there.
On Friday evening we went to Ed Debevic's, which is a pretty speciall restaurant. The whole place is decorated in 60's stuff, and the waiters are dressed like that to.
And now and then during the evening they get
on the bar to dance.
But there is one more thing, their gimic is to be rude to people. It sounds strange, I know, but it is pretty funny. The food is not the best, but it is a funny place to visit.

After that we went to ESPN Zone, which had bars and an arcade. So we managed to drink some beers and play some games. Very funny!
Saturday was the big day. We went to my old school. That was a very speciall feeling. Like falling in love. I have butterflies in my stumach. More or less everything looked just the way it did when I studied there. I even got to get up to my dorm, and saw my old room. Nothing had changed. It was like walking into a timemachine.
Sunday we went to Millenium Park and skated. The day was beautiful, snow, clear blue sky and
a spring sun.

The visit to Chicago was realy great!

The birthday, 30

The 27th started with a pretty early breakfast in the bed, at 6:00. Once opening the presents I opened a box with two tickets to the musical Wicked. But not in Tampa, in New York instead. So I got about 45 min to pack some things and then we went of to New York.
I had a great day there, like a princess day. :) A nice walk in the city, great food, wonderful show and some great drinks at a revolving bar. Could not have been better.

Deep sea fishing

A week ago, we went deep sea fishing with some Swedish friends.
The day started very early and with perfect weather. No wind, sun and a clear blue sky.
And we had all of that the whole day, except for the wind which went from more or less not existing, to taking over our lives. :) One could say that I got a bit sea-sick.
Even though my sickness, I managed to get three fishes.
Small ones, realy small ones, as you can see on the picture.
But I was lucky anyway.



After 8 hours out on the seven seas, we went home to make a great dinner, with our, in total, 12 fishes. It was delicious!

Superbowl

Last night was spent at Ya got to go to Gators, in Clearwater, watching the XLI Superbowl game, between Chicago Bears and the Indinanapolis Colts. Sad but true The Colts won with 29-17.

But what a night! Great food, beer and entertainment.

We (Pontus, J.J and I) entered a quizz regarding the Superbowl, and even though we guessed alot and knew just a few of the answers, we manage to win. Pure luck I would say, but I guess the guys disagree. So fun... being the only non-US people at the bar and winnig the quizz. :) We won a Superbowl cap, an alligator and a check to use at the café for $25. Which was ofcourse used the same night paying for all the beer. :)



GO BEARS!

Gasparilla

So friends, I have now experienced my first Gasparilla party.









It all starts with the Tampa city getting invated by pirates.






And then they walk the streets of Tampa in a parade. A parade that went on for about 3 hours. Wow!
You are not just supposed to look at the parade, you are supposed to gather a treasure, and the treasure is beads that will be thrown to you. Beads in different colours, shapes and lengths. And you have to earn your beads, which is hard work!! I have not been flirting so hard with that many guys in that short amount of time to get that cheap jewelery in my life before. But it was an experience, and so much fun :)
After earing our beads (pain in our necks of the weight) we went for some tapas. And after that it was time for some partying. The night ended at Jackson's at Harbour Island with a couple of drinks. Great drinks by the way... It feelt strange going home at 10 in the evening, but we did start with the first beer at 2. :)

In all, a great day with some serious hard work.

(I know, it looks like I have had one or two many beers to drink. Acctually my first. )

Weekly report

So my first week has passed, and everything is just great here.
I have tried to see what Tampa has to offer if you don't have a car, and it is not totaly impossible to get around. I have been to Ybor City, which is the Cuban part of Tampa, and Harbour City, which is a little bit like Östermalm (all of you from Sweden knows what I mean :))

Some of you have asked about picuters of the house that we have our appartment in and some pictures of the appartment. I have still not taken any of the appartment but I will happily attach some pictures of the Harbour Island and the house that we live in. (live in the yellow house)

We did a excursion this weekend, to something called Crystal River. We swan with the manatees and did also have the possibility to pet them. Eventhoug I was realy scared, it was a great feeling!! Can still not imagine that I did it.

After the swiming, which by the way was way to cold, we went to Rainbow River, canoing. Which became another great experience. There were alot of sea-turles and other animals. The water was, as it should have been in Crystal River, crystal clear. You could see everything.

So all in all, I have had a great first week.

Finally I'm here!

Finally I got to Tampa, it took me a while. Delays in flights and many questions in imigration. But I'm here, and enjoying every minute of it.

The appartment is great, and ofcourse Pontus had filled the fridge with all kind of good things for the first breakfast (as you can see...)


We have had time to see some new made friends of Pontus. They took us to a place called Shell Island yesterday. It was great! The sun was shining, 30 degrees, and we enjoyed with some cold beers in the sun. Could not be better!
