St Augustine

After our visit to the lighthouse we went to St Augustine. It is one of the oldest permanent settings in the US. It looks like a small Mediterranean town, with carefully renovated old buildings. Ponce de Léon, the Spaniard who gave Florida its name, came here on Pascua Florida (ester Sunday) in 1513, but it wasn't until 1565 that settlement began. At this time the fortress Castillo de San Marco was built.
We enjoyed the fortress. Stayed at a small and
cozy hotel and eat great food.
